Not Again…

This video, created by the director of “Wal-Mart: The High Cost of Low Price,” shows the propaganda that was used, by all major news media, to convince the American people that war with Iraq was necessary for our national security. This has, of course, proven to be false. Iraq had no links to al-Qaeda (notice the “had” because now they DO) and Iraq had no WMDs.
However, now Fox News is at it again, this time trying to provoke an attack on Iran.
Sign the petition– don’t let Fox News drag us into war again- and send a message to the other news stations to stand their ground and report the truth, not the Fox-news propaganda.

This is a terrible argument. The fact that Iraq had no connection with al-Qaeda does not mean that Iran has no connection with al-Qaeda. That’s simply faulty reasoning.
Do people really believe that it is acceptable that Iran achieves the ability to launch nuclear weapons? They are working on developing weapons, and are very public about their intent to do so.
I failed to see how refusing to put the threat on the table is preventing Iran from getting nuclear weapons.

    Professor Snape-
I don’t think you fully understood the blog entry.
    1) “This is a terrible argument. The fact that Iraq had no connection with al-Qaeda does not mean that Iran has no connection with al-Qaeda. That’s simply faulty reasoning.”
Correction: That is not the argument. The entry is comparing the same type of tactics and rhetoric used to get us into Iraq (of which all reasons turned out to be false) to the same tactics and rhetoric used to try to get us into Iran.
On another note, Iran, a shi’ite country, doesn’t have a connection with the Sunni group Al-Qaeda.
2)I don’t think anyone wants Iran to have nuclear weapons. But invading/attaching certainly wont eliminate the problem (we saw how that works in Iraq).
There are other ways to deal with Iran rather than beating an fear-driven, irrational war-drum without thinking of the future consequences (we did that before, and look how that turned out).
In short, please understand the argument of the entry before attacking it.
I will help you by boiling down the entry:
The same type of tactics and false arguments that got us stuck in Iraq, are being used again to try to get us stuck in Iran.

    OH, and Republicans for Voldemort!

  4. Anthony Sanchez says:

Umm…once again, I don’t think that’s necessarily the argument. (It’s that the same tactics used to get us into Iraq are being used to get us into Iran -and that we should be skeptical and mindful…but yeah)
And once again, Al-Qaeda is Sunni group, and Iran is a Shi’ite. They don’t quite get along and have different plans in the Middle East. But yeah, again.
