Tomorrow marks the beginning of Stanford’s parents weekend, an annual event that “provides parents with a glimpse of their student’s life at Stanford.” Official sources estimate that 1,500 families–more than 3,300 individuals–will arrive on campus for the festivities. This is apparently a surprise to administrators, who attribute it to better and more “sustainable” communicative measures (according to this Stanford report article).
The weekend will commence with a 9:30 a.m. welcome by Provost Etchemendy tomorrow, and will include various opportunities for parents to interact with faculty and staff–including the first ever Resource Fair at the Arillaga Center. Visual reminders of the weekend, Stanford-esque “Welcome _______”(in this case, parents) signs, can be seen throughout campus.
Be well, be safe, enjoy the conspicuously better tasting dining hall food, and stay classy this weekend (for your parent’s sake, at least).
