Big Game 2010: A Victory in Photos

Sunday, November 21st, 2010

Big Game 2010 was absolutely glorious.  From the not-actually-that-bad weather, to the epic LSJUMB costumes, to – oh, yeah – our domination of Cal, Big Game consisted of epic Stanford supremacy from start to finish.

Hopefully you cheered alongside me through rain and shine (and touchdown after touchdown after touchdown).  If not, however, don’t worry: here are my top picks of priceless Stanford moments, as accompanied by Big Game photos taken by yours truly.

Check it out.  And congratulations to Coach Harbaugh, Andrew Luck, and the men of Stanford Football for rocking the field yesterday.  Your hard work has paid off.  The Axe is OURS!!

Finding Jupiter Recorded and Photographed

Monday, August 16th, 2010

Luke, drums

Dean, guitar and vocals

Finding Jupiter has reached a milestone in its career. With full-length album Racing Against the Sun now complete, they’re on their way out of the Stanford bubble and onto the worldwide scene. Like most other successful bands, however, it takes some clever PR maneuvers to cultivate an image and get your name out there. SF Weekly is tired of seeing bands publish cliché photos posed on the side of the road, on the beach, the playground, or in bathrooms, but for some reason, I find it endearing that Finding Jupiter members Sarah, Dean, Peter, and Luke posed innocently in stalls on XOX crappers. It’s one thing to pick a random bathroom as a site for a photo shoot, like Rilo Kiley and Tilly and the Wall did.

Tilly and the Wall

But when that bathroom is in the house that nurtured an artist’s creative juices and allowed them to rehearse uninterrupted, it’s forgiveable. Here’s to you, Finding Jupiter!

Last quarter I worked with three other students to study Y2E2 as a case study of built environments.  Here are some photos I took for the project.

Stanford like you’ve never seen it before.

Check out these awe-inspiring photos taken by HDR-photography guru Trey Ratcliff and a group of talented Stanford photographers. I can’t believe I’ve been rushing through the quad each week without stopping to appreciate how gorgeous our campus truly is.
EDIT: Some of the photos were taken by Ralph Nguyen, who has graciously contributed his artistic vision to TUSB with galleries for Snowchella and the WBC protests. Dude, your stuff is amazing.

Check out these pics from Snowchella!

Hey all. I took shots from Snowchella. It was probably the most fun I have had this quarter! Check out the whole set here.
Once again, the full set of 100+ pictures is here.
And if you see yourself in there, you can tag yourself in my Facebook album.

Photos from the Westboro Baptist Church Protest(s)

Friday, January 29th, 2010

Ralph Nguyen ’12 was on location with a camera, and he snapped some great shots. As expected, the protesters and anti/counter/not-counter-but-pro-tolerance protesters ran the gamut of serious to angry to punny to color-coordinated. Check out the whole collection here:
