TUSGraph: HOW?sing

Tuesday, May 25th, 2010

This year, Stanford Housing found a new way to screw up the draw!  They forgot that staff members in row houses get singles, so they overbooked the singles in almost every row house.  The result is mayhem in most of the row houses that will result in either staff members losing their singles (which would be absurd – staff members should quit if they try and force this to happen) or people who got premium rooms in a row house getting doubles or moving to a different house.  It’s just a terrible situation in general, and every year I’m amazed at how housing finds a new way to blow it.

The 2nd Annual Unabridged List of Suggested Dorm Themes

Sunday, May 2nd, 2010

Sometimes, even the most competent RAs need a little help. And while we cannot help them counsel and give advice, we can, in fact, contribute to an even more important part of their job–choosing the pun that will define their dorm.

Last year, with some help, I created this list (on page 2, though you should read the whole thing), which was met with a very positive response–and some of the dorm themes even got used this year. And so I’m back again this year, moving to the blog, with the complete list of suggested dorm themes for the upcoming school year.

And now, without further ado (except for the further ado of thanking all of the people who contributed to this–namely the great people with me here at Stanford in Washington): the list. Let us know your favorites or, if you think you can out-pun us, your own suggestions. Who knows–it could make it onto next year’s list.
